December 5 – Set up Tripwire for file modification information

Today, our security tip #5 in this Christmas calendar is to set up Tripwire for file modification information. We recommend you to use a system such as Tripwire to keep track of what happens on your servers. Tripwire is being used to track if a file has been modified without your knowledge, as it could mean that someone have managed to gain access to the machine and are changing things (such as injecting malicious code in a login application to key log it). Having a system like Tripwire in place will notify you of these changes so you can start your incident response plan and sort out the issue.
